Comic Book Storage Ideas
This is for all the comic book collectors out there who have such a vast collection of comic books with no place to put them. What I have here is two old file cabinets that I’m going to transform into a Comic Storage Cabinet. And I’m going to give you step by step instructions (just cause I’m a nice guy) on how this could be done. As well as what you will need.
1 File cabinet
2 Foam Board 20x30x3/16
3 Sheets of Sand Paper 120 Grit
1 Wiping Cloth
2 Spray Paint of Metal Primer
2 Spray Paint (your choice of color)
1 Paint Mask
1: Take your file cabinet and sand all exterior surfaces using your 120 grit sand paper. Make sure to get the exterior surface of the file cabinet nice and smooth. When completed wipe surface with a cloth to get excess rust off cabinet.
2: Apply even coat of metal primer to all exterior surface that were previously sanded. Wait for primer to dry for an x amount of time. Make sure to wear protective mask to keep you safe from fumes.
3: Apply paint to all previously primed surfaces. Then allow paint to dry for x amount of time. Be sure to continue wearing mask.
Extra: As an added bonus to your awesome Comic Cabinets, make a stencil out of some of you favorite superhero symbols and spray paint them anywhere on the exterior surface. Be warned this could be slightly difficult to do if your using cardboard, as the spray paint can drip. If you have the capabilities to make stencils with special paper try it out.
4. Cut the foam board in half to use as a divider for you comic drawers.
5. Now comes the fun part guys! You get to reorganize you comics! YAY! This is honestly my favorite part of course, so the way I organized them was alphabetically. Or you can also go by publisher, such as DC, Marvel, Image, or even Vertigo.
Okay guys now that your complete with you brand spanking new Comic Cabinets it’s time to enjoy the view. So let me know if this has helped at all, and if there are any suggestions for improvement.
